remove the stopper,fill with cold water,then run a snake with a 1/4" cable down into the drain.flush with cold water when clear.

It is still doing the same thing.I guess I snaked it about 4 ft.I was going on the roof to go through the vent pipe. I do not know witch one is it. there is a big and a little pipe

I got up on the house and snaked the vent pipe,a lot of gunk pulled out of it. But it caused my bathtub to stop up.

remove the overflow plate and stopper linkage(if any)and run the small snake through it with water in the tub.you'll know when it starts flowing.

Best bet to clear these types of stoppages is the following

1- Remove the basin trap and looking into the drain pipe make sure the snake wire goes down steam not up the vent

2- Snaking from the bath tub although very common one has to know the tub waste is either lead, galvanized or plastic piping all of these are very short radius and at best hard to make the required bends especially going through a trap 180 degree's

If you puncture the bra tubing waste of the lead piping your looking for a very expensive repair job.

The use of chemicals is really not even considered an option
