the arm is STUCK, and I don't want to break it & cause a flood. How do I loosen it?

Removing a shoewer arm will NOT cause a flood if the shower is in the off position BUT if you break the threads inside the wall then you must either use an extractor (very seldom works) or hire a professional who knows how to cut the threads out of a fitting with out damaging the female threads
