Several of my wooden interior doors do not close properly. They miss the lock plate by a fraction of an inch (above or below) or just seem too far away for the door to sit in the plate. How can I repair them? Thanks.

I'm not a pro, but I've had to deal with this a bit in my home. It can be caused by the house settling in one area. Hopefully the settling (if you have it) isn't any big deal.
I placed a small shim (very thin cardboard) under the upper or lower hinge to throw the door back into position. This was actually kind of an easy fix, as you don't even have to remove the door (you're just dealing with ONE hinge)....good luck.
