I would like to match the deck`s roof to the pitch on the house which is 4/12. The problem I have is that the height of the roof rafters run into the eave on one end because of the rise, 48 in.

You plan to install a shed roof over a deck that is off-center to a gable portion of your house. You cannot penetrate the eaves on one end and make it look right. The answer is a much more complex hipped roof. In other words a shed roof that is hipped on the end. Believe it or not, BobVila has a video on this design, the bad news is the link times out halfway through the project.

Another image here except you only need to hip one end, the other is a cut-off with siding filling the triangle to the shed peak: http://schools.sbe.saskatoon.sk.ca/Walte/Subjects/Drafting/3d%20Advanced/Gables/PartialGable.gif

Hope these links help a little. Needless to say, your roofing will be much more complex. You might need to ask for some design help from a pro. You could do this much more easily if you have a professional drawing specific to your project.
