Alter, you mention on your site that 10.25" tread is good, never less than 9. Well, I started with 10" but I think that would make the total run too long. So my steps are 51" high, and I'm thinking 7.25" risers with 9" run (plus an inch of overhang). By the 2 x riser + run formula that's 23.5. In your opinion, do you think this is reasonable?

Also, your deck railing options page (http://decks-ca.com/Deck_Railings_Options.html) seems to have a problem retrieving from the server. I'm guessing the file name is spelled wrong on the page.

Missed this, (plus away on vacation and I moderate the deck forums not this one) you've probably finished already.. but when builkding the stair 9" for the calcualtions but the actual tread would be 10" as you mentioned which is fine.

I'll look into that link as soon as I can and get it fixed.
