I am going to install crown moulding in a bathroom. Part of the wall around the shower is tiled to the ceiling. It sticks out 3/8ths of an inch creating a small step.

Waht is the usual procedure for dealing with this? Can a piece be miter cut or is this too small?

Thanks, Jeff

several potential solutions.

Last time I ran into this, I made up a 3/8" thick beaded stock to run around the room first, set about an ich lower than the crown was and stopped at the tile. Then the crown runs straight across the tiled face which is now in the same plane.

or to make the crown bump out where you have the concern over how small the return piece will be, you can add a piece of back stop bnehind the crown just wjhere the tile runs to shim it out say an inch, to increase the size of the return cut by that much

Excellence is its own reward!
