I have maple wood stained baseboards. I like the look of crown molding. I am interested in placing crown molding in some of my rooms - is painted white acceptable? I would not like the wood stain at the ceiling line - my walls are light color and the ceiling is white. My six-panel doors, door trim, and window trim are maple wood stain. I could paint them white - but I like the warm feeling of the stain. I do not want to go to the work of placing crown molding if it will chop up the appearance. I would be willing to paint the doors and trim if absolutely necessary. I have been unable to find photos of the mixture - is it really that taboo?

Hi K,

Although color and the way people mix and match it are a personal thing there is nothing wrong at all with painting the crown. This is a very acceptable color in a range of hues such as off white cream or ice white. Try painting the crown and then look it over and see what you think, if you don't like it then paint over the stain to match. There should be no probem there.....MJH
