I am building an office in our basement and I wanted to add some internal windows into the family room. We have a wall that I wanted to add 2 porthole windows. (round)
My question is this: when you have drywall on the inside wall and outside wall, what do you put in between them so you do not see the 3 1/2 inch space between (width of the stud.)?
How do I finish the wall so there is a circle window?
I look foward to hearing back from someone.
Stay at home mom.

gijspencer,
I am probably to late with this but maybe not. I hope not anyway. Just saw your question.
There is a product called Sonotube that is used for making concrete pole bases. They come in different diameters. You can cut one to the width size. Make your hole in the wall just slightly smaller than the tube. You will need to staple or screw on some screening on the inside of the tube. You can get the screen like they use for stucco applications. The screen will hold the drywall mud.
Cut your holes and place some blocks of wood to hold the Sonotube in place. Squeeze in the Sonotube with screen attached. You may have to reshape the screen and tube a bit. Apply the mud in thin layers until it looks like what want.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
