I'm trying to trim out my stairs from the basement to the first floor. I'm having trouble figuring the measurements, because of the carpet that is already down. any suggestions?

For the skirt?

The run & rise should be the same, (except the very bottom step rise) cut a template out of hardboard of one typical rise & run (include nosing projection) and try it on each step, it should fit.

Then transfer that onto a piece ripped to the width of your skirt (probably 11 1/4). Now you step the template up the pattern piece just as you would laying the rough stringer out.

Try that on top of the stair total run, if it fits well, then cut into the more expensive wood copied from the pattern, if not make the adjustments and try again.

A company I worked for way back would once in a while send out the curved stairs as paint grade rather than the ordered species (like oak) they were a bear to cover.
