Wood against cement - What is a good in between???
Hi all,
Quick and hopefully easy questions maybe somebody can answer.
My porch deck is cement, but I want to build wood over top of it. I know direct wood on cement is not good. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I might use as a go between?
Any help much appreciated and thanks in advance :)
Phil.
Digital,
The best thing to do would be to create an airgap by raising the level of the deck slightly between the two surfaces. In the event this just isn't possible I would suggest just sealing the concrete with a good sealer before applying the wood. Subsequent sealings will need to be done between the wood planks as needed. Plastics or Tyvec materials will trap moisture underneath themselves eventually causing a premature demise to the concrete. Maybe someone has a better solution I don't know about.
Good luck, Hope this helps.
