The "fireplace" in my 115-year-old Victorian does not burn wood, but is instead a very ornate metal (brass or copper, I think) grating with a hood, surrounded by tiles. It says "Dawson Bros. Chic" on the bottom, and on the inside is this asbestos-looking stuff, some kind of fiber, with bars holding it in. It has a "damper" and a gas control handle. Does anyone know what this is called or how it works? Thank you!!
