I am trying to decide which model of Lennox A/C to purchase. It is between the Value10 and the Elite11. There is a $400 (Canadian) difference in price. We live in Ontario and as such would only be using the unit about 3 months of the year. I understand there is a different compressor in each and also something called a TXV in the Elite11, but I'm not sure. What other differences are there and is it worth the extra price for the Elite11? I realize this can be a personal choice with many different sides to the coin but any help would be appreciated.
A TXV is a thermostatic expantion valve which meters refrigerent into the evaporator or the coil above the furnace. This does increase the SEER rating on the unit. I live in Iowa and we have pretty much the same climate, only about 3-4 months of cooling. I would say that the $400.00 would take longer to save than most new AirConditioners now a days will last. I have been in the HVAC repair for 26 years. Most people don't even stay in the same house for more that 10 years. You will never save that much in that period of time.

James and Hollywood, I've seen so many posts repeated multiple times lately that I'm sure everybody is having the same problem. It appears as if a post was not accepted, (when in fact it was). So you re-post. I realized that if you post something, then go "back" you see that it got posted - even though the notice says otherwise.
