Hi,
My plumber tells me that my boiler has finally died. In addition hes recommending a new tank and fuel line.

I live 100 feat from a canal(in Long Island, NY). My basement is all sand and my oilburner is in a pit.
I would like to minimize my exposure to paying big $. What should an oilburner cost. What shape and size should it be. Should I be considering other heating options?

Being your close to a canal and may have shallow ground water maybe a geothermal well system could be something to consider.
