Recently my large a/c unit (18000BTU thru wall)unit died and I have to replace it. The professional I spoke to stated that because it was a Whirlpool unit I would need another Whirlpool unit to go into the sleeve, but Whirlpool does not make such large unit anymore. Now I need a new sleeve to hold a Friedrich beacuse it size is a little bigger than the Whirlpool. First question is this so?
Second question: These unit are 230V, what is the difference between large unit of 110V and 230V?

Regarding the sleeve size...If the new unit is larger,it won't go into the sleeve.I'm not sure how to deal with a smaller unit and larger sleeve.A 110 volt unit will fit into a standard receptacle.A 230 volt unit has a different plug which can only fit a specially wired 230 volt circuit.Confirm your present wiring situation and look for that sized unit or be ready to get an electrician.

If the BTU are the same why choose a 110V or a 230V unit? What are the advantages of either voltage?
