Why not just have it moved. It wouldn't cost much. (I did mine bacause a high window allowed the sun to shine on it, causing major temperature fluctuations.)

That was my other consideration. I suppose then I'd have to patch the hole in the wall where the wires currently are.

I contemplated moving my thermostat from the middle room of our house (the dining room) to the room furthest on the north side since the north side was always the 'coldest' room in the house. Well, I was talked out of it because: ...

The dining room happened to be a 'compromise' as far as location. The thermostat is on the north wall (facing south) in the dining room, still, because moving it to either the south or north room would cause different parts of the house to be colder or warmer, relatively speaking. In other words, by me leaving it where it is now, where it's set to 66 degreese, the south room gets to 69 and the north room gets to 64.

Since, in summer, we don't care if the north room is the coldest in the house, my Brother-in-law (who is an HVAC pro) suggested we either put in a natural gas fireplace or add a 3rd heating duct to the north room. The duct would be a 4" duct; not a 12" duct. You don't want to 'steal' too much air from the rest of the system, ya know. We're contemplating the latter once he gets some time to visit us.

Well, the problem with my thermostat is that there's a heat run directly behind it in the wall. So that's giving it an inaccurate reading. I shut the damper to that heat run and then the rest of the house started feeling warmer. So I will have to move the thermostat afterall because I don't want to keep that heat run closed - it goes to the bathroom!
