- new loft bed / hanging bed
My husband installed under cabinet lighting under both beds. It's so nice at night. Next we just need to install lighting up top now.
These beds are fantastic! I'm in the process of building one in my son's room and was wondering if anyone had a picture of the clamps or info on how much weight the eye bolt they used can hold? Would it be possible to use a U-bolt drilled down into the frame? I was thinking of using 4 1/2 inch hex heads to hold a U bolt in place. I'm using 2x6s instead of 2x4s and have plastic coated steel cable that can hold over a thousand pounds but the biggest eye bolt I can find is rated for 360 pounds. I want to make sure it's strong enough to handle the additional weight of the 2x6s. Thanks.
Ha, I just wrote an article that featured a secret bed that folds up into a 14" thick wall. I never thought about beds supported by cables, nice thread here!
I saw photos of the bed you made for your son on-line & have been searching for weeks for the instructions and/or the place to purchase it. I understand you made them several years ago but wondered if you might still be able to provide some feedback. I just found your discussion here however, I am unable to view any photos you had associated with your posts. I was hoping to see how you have the under-supports constructed as well as the rails.
Have the beds been able to "grow" with your boys? Do you still find the beds appropriate three years later? I would like to know that this bad can be used into his teenage years.
Also, there is some debate here as to the type of wood you have used. If you could please explain, I would appreciate it. I see some other people in the past asked that you email them more detailed info/plans. If you are able & willing that would be great. email is jmetzger1@fuse.net
I love love love these beds you made & am very excited to be able to do the same for our son. thanks! jessica

Would love to see the picts (not showing up online). We want to make 2 beds with railing suspended like this with bolts into 2 side walls for our 2 boys, 5 and 7. Can you send whatever picts/details you have??
