I am in the process of considering moving my 25-year-old oil-fired furnace from my finished basement to the garage. Well, I am actually considering getting a new one. I had a gas company guy come over and talk to me about converting to gas. They basically give you a furnace for free (up to certain BTU). I just need to pay for the installation. He tells me with the new models the air-intake comes from the exterior of the house through a pipe or something, so there is no chance of odors at all and you could basically sleep next to it???...anyone had any experience with conversions?.

personally, stick with oil, cheaper to heat in most cases.
if conversion is choosen , i ve been using the lennox g 32 series, very quiet, 2 stage, and have vari drive blower as option. vents out in 2"pvc. just replace a lennox pulse with one at my mothers house. she s pleased with the quiet operation.
