I just perchased a home with forced air heat. There is an AprilAir Humidifier model # 110 (block box) attached to the furnace. How do I tell if it is working and what maintenance should I do?

By top cover, you mean the thin plate that screws to the top half of the overall cover?
So, as long as water is running, it's working? Isnt there a motor int there as well that spins some sort of absorption pad?

Thanks so much for your help

Thanks. One more thing, I found a picture of the guts of the Aprilaire model 110. Looks like there is motor with fan. Does the motor just blow the heat over the water. There are some models that spin the water collection pad slowly.

Can I remove the black covers and look at the humidifier while the furnace is on? If so, how?
