We would like to install a woodburning fireplace to an existing chimney that is used for oil heating a house. One story house. 18 inch internal diamater brick chimney. Chimney is in perfect location for a main floor living room fireplace install. What special precautions do we need to take to eliminate the chance of oil exhaust coming from the heater in the basement into the living room on its way up the chimney? Any suggestions on how to install into an existing chimney would be helpful too! Thanks!

Can we use the existing oil heat chimney but have a separate exhaust channel/tubing/whatever within the chimney for the fireplace? This way the chimney could be used for both exhausts, but still be separate. Is this a potential danger?
Is there ANY way to make this work so we can use the existing chimney for oil heat and fireplace? Thanks!
