I am looking at a brand new home and the heat source is electric with heat pump, forced air.I would think that this would be more expensive than gas or oil and my realtor said not. What is good about the electric and why does it seems like new homes are being built with all electric heat. thanks

A heat pump is no more than a reversible air conditioner, if your present summer bills are high due to airconditioning, multiply that into the winter monthes. If they are resonable, and winters are mild, you might be ok. Heat pumps only work to a given temperature( around 40F , i believe)THEN...the the giant toaster you have in your air handler (the box with the fan in it )kicks in.
I would be curious what system your realter has? hmmmm.....
