I live in Seattle, and am building a 844 sq ft second floor addition to my 980 sq ft existing single floor.

Right now I have electric baseboard, but
I am looking at hydro air, using mostly Toester fan coils (in-wall installation units and undercounter "toe-kick" installation units). I am considering some hydronic floor tubing to tie into this, if I can manage to keep within a pretty tight budget.

I am also planning a gas fireplace insert with direct vent on the first floor (w/open floor plan).

I would love some feedback from anyone who has had any experience with hydro air and/or gas fireplace inserts used for heating.

Also, should I go with a tankless water heater if using hydro air?

Thanks for any info you can give me...

Actually, the purchase/installation of this hydro air system is supposed to be less expensive than any other system out there besides electric baseboard, and more efficient.

I'm just worried that it doesn't seem to be very well known, so I'd like some feedback from anyone who is familiar with it.

Also, the fan coil units can be installed between wall studs, therefore flush with the walls, which makes them a lot less noticeable than baseboard units. The toe kick models go under cabinets and counters, so are totally hidden from view. My concern is that clearly they make some noise (whereas baseboard basically makes none), so I'd like to have some feedback regarding that issue too.

Regarding a fireplace insert, I'd like to know if anyone out there is using one as an important part of their heating system, if they are satisfied with its a)effectiveness and b)efficiency, and finally, if there are any particular features/models they would recommend.

Thanks for the help...
