This past week, WI has seen quite a bit of rain. I decided to go into my basement to just check and see if the sump pump is working...and it is. Now, to the bad part.

I noticed a puddle of water underneath my boiler, and heard water dripping IN the vent pipes that go from the boiler up to my chimney . The water comes in the chimney and down the pipes into the boiler....leaking out as it comes down. It is not wet anywhere else (not outside the pipes)...all floor boards are dry, it is only coming in through the pipes (vents).

Anyone know why all of a sudden this would happen? Do I need to make a 'roof' above my chimney so that water does not get in? Currently, there is nothing above the chimney to divert rain, but I notice a lot of chimneys do not have that.

All help is appreciated.

PS, we had some hail also this week (no larger than a marble), and I haven't had the chance to get onto my roof yet, so I am unsure if it is leaking from somewhere else.
