The fan on my central heat/air unit comes on as it pleases, even when the thermostat switch and fan switch are off. I've had the problem since I bought the house (last fall), it continued through the winter and still happens. Does anyone know what the problem might be? The unit heats and cools great, I just wish the fan wouldn't run of its own free will. Thanks in advance for any help.

Seeing as how I'm on a forum asking questions, I guess I should make clear that I didn't know there were a multitude of different ways to make air hot and cold. However, I did look and the unit is a Janitrol and the thermostat says Dico on it. I don't have any of the literature on either, nor do I know the year of manufacture. I do suspect that the central heat and air was installed about 10 years ago. Do you think replacing the thermostat would be a good place to start? Thanks.
