I have an electric furnace, and the blower motor is not switching on. I replaced the capacitor, which solved an original problem I had. The original problem was that the motor would hum, lock up, and overheat without actually moving. Now, the motor will start if I use the manual switch inside the heater, but it wont otherwise. I know the thermostat is working because the filament heats up, but the motor just never starts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A few things can be happening here, the most likely is that the low speed winding on the motor has burned out. Another possibility is that the blower relay contacts which close to power up the low speed on the blower are burned, or that perhaps the blower relay is bad all together.
If the motor starts in the fan on sposition but not the auto selection you caould also have a bad fan switch or thermal switch which turns on the blower when the temperature is right. If you blower motor has more than two speeds you may be able to use a different speed tap, if not you'll have to replace the motor.
