Have had gas company out to check problem. My gas bill for last month was twice the normal. Furnace goes on and off every 30 sec or so till it reaches temp called for. What might be the problem?

So what you need to determine is if its a thermostat problem or a unit problem. Try setting your thermostat all the way up as high as it goes, and see if the problem persists. If not its was in the stat.
When you say it kicks on and off are you talking about the burners or the blower motor? If the burners are cycling that's one problem if it's the blower then its another. If its the blower, then try setting your fan into the fan on position, once the burners have started and see if the burners stay on as well as the blower. The blower should continue to run until you take it out of the fan on position on the thermostat.
