I have a chimney that is going to extend about 12 ft out the roof of my house and I would like to know how to build a chase around it so that it doesn't look so funny. I would like to do it the cheapest way possible, without doing it in brick. Could someone help, or give me a website on how to do this?

Why would you need to run a chimney up 12 feet above the roof. Is this going to be a metal b-vent or class 1 chimney? If so be ready to collect the water that will run out at the bottom. Even a triple wall type vent might condense some water if it is running up that high.
I am running the chimney 12 ft high because of the chimney needs to be 2 ft higher than anything within 10 ft according to code. I am inexperience with this, am I following the code to closely?
I would ask the local inspector or a good heating contractor for a second opinion on this one. You may get away with not having to go up so high. What type of chimney is it. Masonary, b-vent, all flue, etc. Don't go ahead with it till you get a definite answer from the building dept. Then you can look for an enclosure.
