I found a thick gooey substance on the bottom of my A/C that was on the floor in the basement. I looked through the vents in the A/C and did not see any fluid in there. Is there anything in a Room A/C that could leak out like that or is possible something else was on the floor and the A/C was placed on it? I do not want to through this out if I do not have to. It is a Frigidaire 5000 BTU.

Thanks for your help.

There is nothing inside of a window unit that would fit that description. The compressor does contain oil, but not enough to leak out of the unit onto the floor. That would also mean that the unit had lost it's refrigerant charge. I think it is an outside source.
