Is a single-unit heat pump as good & reliable as a split-unit? My better half and I just bought a 31-yo brick rancher and are replacing the original oil heating system. One of the HVAC contractors has suggested a single unit that goes outside, rather than a split unit that would be in the basement and attic. Is that type any more or less reliable than the split units I'm used to?

Thanks.
