Hello,

We have a oil-powered hot water baseboard system.

I see a hot water heater next to the furnace (or is it actually a boiler?)

I see there is a thermostat on the hot water heater.

Q1) What should the proper temperature range be for the hot water heater?

Q2) What does the hot water in the hot water heater get used for? I know it's used for hot water out of the faucet. But is it also for the dish and clothes washers? If so, how does the system regulate the temperature of the faucet water, versus the clothes washer?

Q3) Does the hot water heater play a role in the heating of the house? Or does the furnace/boiler heat up water separately and circulate that around the house?

I'm assuming our set-up is standard.

Thanks in advance for shedding some light on the big picture. :-)
