HKestenholz................thanks for the info so far!

I tracked down the unit, it is a Heil QuietComfort DX 1300 Air Conditioner 13 SEER.

I was quoted a price of 2500 for slightly upgraded model vs. one that is about 350 less but does not have soem of the safeties built in or some other extras (new outside unit, new coil, and all labor). I am actually having some other work done on my house and the guy doing the work has also done some central air installs, but that is not his main skill. He did say he thought that was a good price and that the unit was moret han adequate for the size of our house. Any thoughts or comments on the model, price, etc?

Thanks again for any info provided!

Thanks again HKestenholz. I know what you mean. Had a really bad experience a few years back with new windows. Bought great windows and the installer was a nightmare!

The guy I would have installing is a regular HVAC pro with own business, been in business a long time, came as a referral from a friend and have used him regularly since. Even referred him to neighbor for some work and they loved him also. So, as confident as you can be (will always be leery after window fiasco) about an installer, my concern was the actual unit and price.

Thanks for the thoughts!
