In a small, older (1960's) brick cape cod home with need for some weatherization, perhaps a new broiler and on limited funds, how can I switch my home heating source from a very costly ($4,800/yr) gas broiler/radiator system to a less expensive method? The electric cap will be coming off in two years and the new price of electric will not be known until then but is predicted to be as costly to switch to electric. What should I look into? Are there any programs/incentives for going green/solar? I hear solar is the best but also extremely expensive. I would greatly appreciate any direction, advise etc. offered.
