My air condition needs replaced.
Own a rance with 1800 sq.ft. upstairs and about 1000 sq.ft. downstairs (not counting garage).
Contractor says that I do not have to add downstairs and recommended a 2.5 ton TRANE unit. He also said that if I replace my 10-yr old furnace, I would qualify for the rebates. He also suggests adding a Aspen coil to a 15 SEER unit.
Is this a good idea? Thanks for your help.

The service man is recommending a TRAND XL15i air conditioning condenser, model 4TTX5030, 30K BTUH, which he says features efficiencies as high as 16.5 SEER also using a TRANE All-Aluminum Spine Fin condenser Coil.
Even though we do not need a furnace (have one 10-year old) he is recommending that we switch to a TRANE XV 95 furnace, Model TUH2B0100 100 BTUH which has efficiencies as high as 95%.
Purchasing the above will allow us to receive the max credit by the gov. It will also allow us to receive a rebate from the state.
The total cost would be around $7,000 with a $2,000 rebate.
