I wish to install the indoor unit of a split ac system over a new (to be installed) exterior door . The height I have to work with is approximately 14 inches - as measure over an existing door. The code requires a header beam over the door - right where I would need to installed the ac unit. Is this still possible? What are my options? I figure I can increase the number of jack studs and / or use a metal header which would be of a much small size. What has been everyone experience with this? Thank you
