need to take that shine down

old cabinets stripped clean, oil base gel stain first coat of stain ragged on and the second painted on. beautiful color. when I put the first coat of oil base satin urethane, its too shiny, how do I get this shine down to a real satin finish? I need help on this one

Did you stir the product ?

Usually the "flattening" agent settles to the bottom of the can very quickly.....

And shine varies among products....what did you use ?

throw that one away and cut a new one...."

thanks Doug for responding. no I did not stir it enough. If I do that will it take the shine down on the next coat? I used min wax oil base
