Bvelectrical
Hello,

I just moved into a new build home. The electrical sub did the phone wiring. On 3 of the 4 phone outlets in the house, I can hear a local AM radio station once I start dialing and when talking on the phone. I haven't heard it on the 4th outlet. On the 4th outlet (where I don't hear the radio), I have a 900 Mhz cordless phone. On the 3 outlets I do hear the radio interference, I have a corded phone. How can I get rid of this radio interference? Is it a sign of improper wiring? I called the local phone company and they tested the signal coming to the house and said it's OK and that the problem is in the house. Thanks for the help.l

Unplug the cordless phone....does the noise go away? See if you can program the channels on your cordless phone, try a differnt channel until the noise goes away.

So the cordless phone could be causing the interference? Even though I don't hear any interference on the cordless phone? I'll try unplugging it and see what happens. What if it is the cause and changing the channel doesn't fix the problem?

OK, the cordless phone is causing the radio interference. I unplugged it and the noise went away in the other phone. I plugged it back in and the noise was back. I can change the channel on the cordless phone and did change it about 50 times, but the noise remained. What can I do now to get rid of the radio interference? Is there some sort of filter or dampener I can put on the cordless phone? It's weird because I had these same phones in my old apartment and I didn't have any problems. Please help. Thanks.

There's probably a radio tower nearby and your phone's picking up the broadcast through sympathetic induction. I know standing next to a radio tower I can usually pick it up on my tone amplifier.

What you can try is to find a filter. They do make them. Check with radio shack. But it could be that nothing will help. In these cases there's really little to do.
