Hi: Can an ordinary dimmer switch be used on a low voltage track light? I have a low voltage halogen track light that I would like to control with a dimmer switch. The fixture is an Edison model E9200 track light, with three 50 watt lamps installed, and the switch I have is a Pass&Seymour toggle dimmer rated for up to 600 watts. I find nothing in the instructions saying you can, or can't use a dimmer, there is no "hot line number", and have gotten no reply from an email to the manufacturer. Apreciate any help.
Thanks for your time,
Dan Walter Rockford IL

Probably not a regular lutron or whatever- The couple of sets of low-voltage lights that we have set up in our house all require a magnetic dimmer.

Not adviseable.
If you have an electrical supply house locally, you might check with them for special dimmers made for that purpose.

You must find out what type of transformers power your track lights. Magnetic? Electronic? Then purchase a dimmer for that application.
