I got a new refrig for my kitchen. With this purchase I also received a free 5 cu. ft. freezer (5 amps, 115v, 60 Hz). I plan to hook up the freezer in the basement, along with my old refrigerator (120V, 60 Mz). The outlet is not in the place I need it to be so I was thinking I could move it. This is what the existing wire says - E42096 Type NM 14/2 WG (UL) 600V . The breaker is a 20. Can I just move the outlet?
You can move the outlet, but you've got a problem to fix first. A 20 AMP circuit breaker with 14/2 wire is bad news. 14 Gauge wire is rated for a 15 AMP load. You may want to double-check to make sure you traced the wire to the correct circuit breaker.
