can i convert a standard 110 two wire outlet to a three wire dryer connection for an electric dryer?

No. You need a 220v circuit (at least for the electric dryers I've ever had). This circuit requires TWO 110v "hot" wires. In addition, dryers' heating elements pull a lot of power so the circuit needs to be rather heavy duty wiring.

From the sound of your question, I'd consult an electrician about putting in a proper circuit. Be safe!

thanks. all done. bought a new 30 dual throw breaker, some 10 gauge wire. had a neighbor guide me and the dryer works. Same and sound.
