2 questions,1. how high off the floor should
receps be in a newly built garage?

2.when stapling sheathed electrical cable to an unfinished cieling should it be stapled to the side of the truss boards or on the top?

Unsure of the NEC for your questions. In my recent garage project, I installed all of the boxes at 48" (to the top of the box). This gave me plenty of convienence when it comes to positioning work tables and benches. As far as stapling, I stapled to the side of the roof joist as I decked my attic.

Hope this helps,

One more thing...Don't forget to install GFCI's in the first recepticle box of the run for each circuit. I don't believe that ceiling mounted rececps. need a GFCI, however.
