is there a way to add a thermostat control to a window air conditioner (one only has dial control)? thanks

Your biggest dilemma will be to find a cooling thermostat rated for your AC. What is the rating on it? What is the voltage? The biggest rated cooling thermostat I see it 16 amp at 120 volts and that is a White Rodgers HD heating / cooling thermostat. Grainger stock #3TZ43. Go to www.grainger.com.
