My husband and I are thinking about purchasing an older home in Illinois that has aluminum siding which is not in good shape. If we wanted to replace the aluminum siding with brick face, could it be done? I am not sure that a home initially built with aluminum siding is able to hold the weight of the brick face siding.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

Thereser: You can remove the alum. siding and replace with brick veneer. You must put in a footer to set the brick on and this will carry the full weight of the brick. It gets attached to the house with straps that are nailed to the house at specific intervals of height and width which then are tied into the brick as it is layed.
