Greetings Electrical Gurus,
I've been having a new deck installed (as most of you probably already know). There's a wire for an outside light fixture that pokes through the ledger board, immediately below the upstairs decking (between joists). (The wire is practically touching deck boards--that's how close it is.)
Are there any issues here? Type of electrical box required, etc.? Conduit the wire down an inch or two to a junction box?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,

Not enough info.
Do you want a light to be installed where the wire is? Or somewhere else, using that wire? Or no light at all?
Is the wire switched? Is it on a GFCI breaker?

Hi there rpxlpx,
Thanks for responding. Sorry about the lack of info; I'll try and provide more!
The light will end up in about the same place as it was before. Yes, using that wire. The wire comes out just a few inches. It will be the same light fixture as before, yes, located (hopefully) right about where the wire is. It'll be just a few inches lower than where it was originally.
Yes it is on a switch. There is a GFCI breaker controlling all the outdoor outlets--this light might be on that circuit (although I'm not sure).
The web site can use lots of work....but I just put a picture out on http://mypeoplepc.com/members/kosta/remodel/id1.html
Thanks!

Hi there rpxlpx,
Thanks for responding. Sorry about lack of info...hopefully this will clarify.
The web site is pitiful but I just put a picture out on http://mypeoplepc.com/members/kosta/remodel/id1.html
Yes, light is switched and should be in about the same location as the wire. It's the same fixture that was up there before--it's just been lowered a few inches.
All outside receptacles are on a GFCI breaker. Not sure if this light (and its switch) are on that one.
Thanks!
