I bought a new ceiling fan to replace an ugly old one in my new kitchen. Tired to install it today and can't get it to work. Here's what I have, from ceiling- black, red and ground from fan- black, white, blue and green
Tried connecting the blue and black from the fan to the black in the ceiling and the white to the red with no luck. Also connected the green to the grounding wire in the ceiling. Anyone know how I should hook this up??

- ceiling fan wiring question- please help!
You have a wire missing from the ceiling. You need a white wire in the ceiling.
Generally the fan wiring is
black =fan power
blue = light power
white is neutral for both
green is ground for both.
In your ceiling box.
Black and red are usually the power for fan and light and should be connected to the black and blue. But you didn't say anything about a white wire in the box so it's a wild guess as to what you might have. Do you remember how it was connected before you removed the old fan?
