New Circut to Shed

I am planning on running a new underground circut to a detached shed. The circut (120 volts / 15 amps) will power one receptacle and one overhead light.

I have two related questions. What type of wire should I use inside PVC Conduit? How deep do I need to bury the conduit?

You could use THWN wires only if the conduit is going from panel to device box. You could also use Type UF cable. This cable is rated for direct burial. My area states that the cables be buried 24". I don't know the distance to the shed from the dwelling, but if it is a great distance this could be a voltage drop problem. Check with a local Electricians shop as codes vary by jurisdictions.

I planned on running sheathed electrical cable from the breaker panel to the outside of the house and then using UF for the exterior portion.

I'm just not sure by code if I can use UF inside the conduit.

In Toronto you need to use type NM-W. Note the W. It is for wet locations. NM-D is for dry (indoor) locations.
