I have a 3-way switch for our whole house fan that I'd like to replace with a count down/shutoff timer. I dont have room for a timer AND a 3 way switch side-by-side; does anyone know if a combo switch exists like this? (shutoff timer+3 ways switch in single switch box size)

It most cases you can do some "surgery" on the wall and replace the single gang box with a 2 gang box and not hurt the finished wall.

However the resultant won't work with a THREE-WAY SWITCH properly.

However, do you have a 3 -way switch. That is a single pole double throuh switch (3 terminals) that can be used to turn on or off from two different place.

Or do you have a Single pole, double throw CENTER OFF switch (also 3 terminals) that is used to give the fan Hi-OFF-LOW.

If it is the later and you want to try the surgery tell me what kind of wiring the house uses (sheathed electrical cable, BX, conduit) and what kind of wall this is in (DW, plaster, masonary)?

Or if don't chare about using both speeds you can replace the switch with a timer and be limited to only the one speed (you can wire it for either one).

Sounds like we're not aware of a product that might meet this need. I'm able to rig something but was hoping to avoid the extra work if something already existed.

Thanks for the reply.

By 3 way do you mean two switches in separate locations that operate the fan or a single switch with 3 settings?

By 3-way I mean a 3 speed switch like for a fan. Sorry I'm inprecise with my terms.
