I have green moss growing on the north side of my roof.
What can I do to get rid of it? and to keep it away.
What can I use to clean it off with.

Thank you

Go to the local big box chain or local hardware store, get either a wetable powder or liquid moss remover for roofs, you can put it on with a hose end sprayer or pump sprayer. Watch the runnoff, plants streams etc., read the directions!!!

Hi bcoes,

Be sure to 'address' the cause of the moss on the roof.

Trim back those trees and such, and let the sun and air flow through. Otherwise, you'll be at this job on a regular basis.

My best to ya and hope this helps.

Thanks guys for response, but there is no trees in close proximity, except maybe 15-20ft away.I have also noticed two as far as I can see of my neighbors on my west side are beginning to develope the same green moss covering with spects of white. I have also been noticing this conditions on the same side of trees that line the streets around here. I suspect it is related to both temperature and moisture. I should make a more thorough inspection of the area. Any other suggestions?

Hi bcoes,

Well, if the roof happens to face North, that doesn't help. If trees happen to block out sunlight, that doesn't help either.

I do notice that North-facing roof lines that don't get sunlight until mid-morning or later, no matter what time of year, moss ends up developing on the roof. If this is the case, and based on what you just wrote, you may be relegated to a periodic cleaning of the roof with a mixture of bleach and water. (1 cup minimun per 1 gallon of water. Add more bleach for more strength.)

Stick around - Others may have more to offer. My best to ya and hope this helps.
