The fan was previously hooked to 3 switches. 1 switch to turn on the fan, 2 switches (one on either side of the room) to turn on the light. The new fan only has 3 wires, the previous fan had 4. We can get it where the light switches work, but the fan switch does not work. You have to pull the chain to turn on the fan. Is there any way to run the 3 wires so that both the light and fan switches work?

If the fan only has a black, white and green, then you do not have enough wires to run the fan and light separately by switching. This is unusual though, unless the fan has an integral remote that controls both the fan and the light separately. Is that the case here?

What wires are in the ceing box, colors and what is connected to what? And what was connected to what on the old fan?

Unless the switches are on different circuits (breakers) then it should be possible to connect up the new fan.

But with the two 3-ways switches and the single switch then there are dozens or more different possiblilities of the working in the ceiling box.
