My sister is building a home and is having Hardi plank put on the outside. I have it on my home and love it. Mine is painted white but she wants hers to look like cedar. All of the paint choices we have looked at seem to look too orange. We were wondering if you could stain it then put a sealer over it? With all the new concrete stains out and Hardi plank being a concrete base we thought it might work. Does anyone know? We need to know pretty soon because the framers come this week and it won't belong before we need the painters.

Thanks for any help.

Simple answer NO!
You need to paint hardi plank with a good quality acrylic latex paint. If there is a color that you want take a sample to a PAINT store and have them match it.
