Can an pastused 220V 10 AWG wire (Dryer wire) handle supply for a Geothermal compressor (only) requiring a max of 35 Amp at 220V?

Run is approx 30 to 40 feet. The fan and backup heat are on different runs.

The nameplate on the compressor should state what the minimum wire size should be (minimum circuit ampacity).

Look on the nameplate for a minimum circuit amps. Also for the maximum breaker or fuse rating.

But also what kind of wire cable is this?

If it is cable what are the markings on the sruface. What are the colors of the wires?

It is very possible that even if the wire is of the right size that it does not have a ground and thus can't be used for this application.
