Can you use NMWU cable to replace NMD90 wiring for heating applications like baseboard heating (1500 W)? The reason I ask is that both wires are 12 gauge, and both are FT1 for fire, but the NMD90 wire is dry rated at 90 degree celsius whereas the NMWU is wet rated at 60 (Typically used for wet or underground installation). What is the significance of this rating in heating applications? Is there any significance? Normally I would use NMD90 but I have a lot of NMWU wiring left over from another project.

You are apparently in Canada.
In general the code is same as US, but there are some differences.
If I understand it NMWU is similar to our UF (underground feeder).
"Description: Domtech CSA Certified Type NMWU building wire.
Applications: For concealed or exposed wiring in dry or wet locations. Also where exposed to weather or direct earth burial."
In the US UF cable can be used anyplace where NM is used.
But I don't know if that holds in Canada or not.

I was told by an electrician that any indoor wiring of type sheathed electrical cable (NM) must be rated for 90 degrees celsius. Not sure of the exact reason but I think its for extra safety, in case the wire was to overheat for any reason. An insulation rated at 90 offers more protection than one at 60. That's why this code is only for indoors where people are at risk.
